popphysics goes weird
« on: September 14, 2012, 09:54:36 AM »
So
I'm a guy who likes physics combined with stupid things.

but here is an article *reviewing* an "article" about the physics of strapless dresses.

it's very strange.
I wonder why they did it.

As soon as I saw that I thought surely the answer is just generally boob taped boobs and that he'd explain that (though no idea why it needs explaining, although the first time a girl ever asked me to get some for her while i was at the shops i just was boggled at what it's use would be) which as the review pointed out, the paper clearly seems to be oblivious of... It was a pretty funny review of the paper though.

Comming from a guy who wrote a paper about the Unified Theory of Superman Powers, you must sure understand why.

BTW, Scicurious is awesome. I love her blog and Friday Wierd Science is the best.

i mean.
it was a little bit of a mystery before i knew boob tape existed...
but like...
i mean...
most of what he said was obvious...
maybe if he did some experiments
or mentioned boob tape... it'd be interesting.
? :s

might as well write an article on how baseball caps fit and stay on everyone's heads through an intricate interplay of hair and elaborate counterbalances.
what do you mean that you can adjust the width of baseball caps!?!
THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING!!!

From the comments this paper was written in the fifties, which i imagine is pre boob tape, so the mystery of how they stayed up might have been a fair question.

This might also be a good time to say I checked the stats for this board recently and the male to female ratio is approaching 22:1

Which is potentially both interesting scientifically and a little bit sad.
