21 Feb 13 - The Witchetty Grub (Endoxyla leucomochla)

Witchetty grubs are the larvae of the cossid moth. They are a traditional Australian bush food, having a high fat content. They taste not great compared to chocolate, but I can imagine that they would be a treat on a hunter/gatherer diet (kind of an almond taste when raw- I haven't eaten one cooked but apparently they taste eggy). They are found in the roots and bark of certain trees.
